Fed up with the gobby ones getting all the glory?
Fed up with the ‘in your face’ folks being assumed to have the right ideas?
Time to speak up and be counted then. Time to start changing the world and having the impact you should.
There’s no pain quite like knowing you should have done better, but for whatever reason you didn’t speak your truth.
This training is for you even if you’ve drowning in a sea of self doubt!
Society constantly confuses confidence with competence – assuming those people who act like their ideas are the best are doing that because their ideas are the best. In fact research shows that if there is a relationship between being confident and actually knowing what you’re talking about, it’s negative! (It’s called The Dunning-Kruger effect)
But once you learn the tools for starting your journey towards confidence you can start to share your ideas better than the gobby ones!

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won’t feel insecure around you…
…and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

What does this training look like?
Sadly there’s no magic wand, but this course will help. I’ve included a tool kit of over a dozen well-researched techniques for handling your nerves, allowing you to stand up and speak out. I’m a speaker, so much of what I write is orientated around making presentations, but the tools work just as well for any high-pressure situation such as asking for a raise, going on a date, making a complaint or even speaking up at a work meeting!
I’ve drawn these tools and techniques from places like Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy; from Olympic athletes; professional speakers; and performing dancers – people have to be absolutely on their game all the time… people who can’t let their lack of confidence get in their way.
Confidence usually comes from action. It’s an output, not something you have before you can start – but these tools are there to get you going, so you can try it… get more confident… grow… repeat…
My background
I spent 24 years as a research scientist and my PhD looked at possible causes of childhood leukaemia and I can honestly say I’ve seen thousands of great ideas for making the world a better place go overlooked by policy makers, funders, the press… you name it. But once people started to act like their ideas should be taken up… more of them were.
It became a virtuous cycle!
Once you and your ideas start being taken more seriously you get more confidence. And with more confidence you… you get the idea.
You don’t need the full, personal bio, do you? No? Good!

So here’s the more fun bit… I’ve also been a professional actor; playwright; I’ve directed plays and opera; I’m and author and a TEDx speaker. Oh yes, and I’ve been a fire-eater.
What that means is that I give you content that’s research based, but that I understand how to be engaging too. I promise. 😉
Ready to be a little bit more confident? To take your first, baby-steps towards showing the world what you’re capable of?
Is this for you?
Well by now you’ll probably know. If you’re annoyed – angry even – at being overlooked, perhaps as a person and perhaps more your ideas… then this is for you.
But only if you’re not one of the gobby ones! 🙂
